Day 12 of Christmas: Happy Holidays (Wildcard)
Warning: It might be a bit confusing, so feel free to ask if you don’t understand something. It’s also like, 1300 words o.O
“The holidays are days you spend with friends and family. Or maybe with a stranger in a bar or a friend you met online. Holidays were meant to be spent with someone.
Torbjörn, Ingrid, their kids and Reinhardt spent Christmas together. Unlike a year ago, Angela Ziegler had joined them. They were all having fun as Brigitte and Reinhardt told stories about their adventures. Brigitte often looked at her significant other, who was sitting next to her. She knew they were nervous – especially for the Secret Santa they had planned.
Zarya didn’t celebrate the holidays often, but her significant other loved it. This time, she decided to celebrate it too. And this time, she brought a new friend home, too. A friend she never thought she’d make. She hated omnics with a burning passion but holidays aren’t meant to be spent with fighting and hatred.
Mei was laughing as Snowball kept building snowmen to join their tiny snowman army. Mei’s S/O was hugging her from behind, enjoying the laughter. Snowball was happy, and so were Mei and her S/O.
Lúcio stifled a laugh as his S/O fell down in the snow. Without hesitating, he helped them up and dusted the snow off their jacket. He congratulated them, for only tripping once in the last ten minutes. They playfully hit his shoulder but laughed anyway. The DJ removed his scarf from his mouth briefly just to kiss his significant other.
Angela and her lover were sitting in the snow, watching the fireworks. Angela looked at her significant other and smiled, happy she finally took a break. Her S/O noticed and smiled at her, kissing Angela’s red nose. "I love you,” they told each other before standing up and going inside where it was warmer.
Amélie sat in her room on the Talon base when the door opened. The person she kissed only a few minutes ago entered the room and asked why she had called for them. Without hesitating, Widowmaker stood up and walked over to them, only to kiss them quickly.
Hanzo was happy. He had finally accepted the fact that Genji was alive and had forgiven him. He was glad he could spend the holidays with the people he cared about the most. It felt nicer than spending the holidays by himself. For once, it felt like they were little boys, playing in the arcade of Hanamura, only better.
Jesse’s arm was slung over his S/O’s shoulder as they struggled to get him inside. He was stumbling all over the place but his significant other managed. Once they closed the door, they tried to carry their boyfriend to the couch. Luckily, it only took a few minutes. They sat down next to his legs, exhausted, and stood up to go to bed before he said something. “Hey…” McCree grunted, “I love ya.”
Emily and her girlfriend were sitting in the living room of their apartment when their girlfriend, Tracer, blinked into the room. It’s strange how one day you fall through someone’s kitchen window, and two years later you’re celebrating the holidays with them and your girlfriend. But for once, Tracer was glad she accidentally messed up.
Akande watched the fireworks through the window of his bedroom. He looked down at the picture in his hand and sighed, looking at how happy and his S/O were before he became Doomfist.
Fareeha laughed as she cuddled up to her significant other. She wasn’t really celebrating, but she still wanted to spend time with their S/O, especially during this time of year. Her father was on a work trip and for a day she was worried she’d have to spend it alone until her S/O sent her a text.
Reaper looked through the window all the way from the roof. They were happy without him. They forgot about him. They moved on. Oh, how badly he just wanted to barge in and show his face – to prove he was still alive. But he couldn’t. Not now. They were happy without him.
Jack sighed, tired eyes looking around. No one was around. The graveyard was empty but he didn’t mind. In a way, he wasn’t. He has many regrets. But his biggest regret was right in front of him now. He let his S/O down and now he had to pay the price. Still, it felt comforting to be with them during the holidays.
Ana was watching from a distance, she reached into her jacket to pull out a hologram. It revealed her young daughter Fareeha, with someone behind her who was hugging her. She knew she could easily go find her significant S/O and her daughter but not now. Now wasn’t a good time.
Olivia sighed, plopping down on the couch in her room when someone stormed inside. The person she let Widowmaker kiss. Sombra grinned, “Hola!”. However, the other recruit wasn’t that happy. They started to talk about how they didn’t want to kiss Widowmaker – or anyone, actually. But Sombra refused to believe it. In the end, she was right, when her new S/O kissed her out of nowhere.
Bastion watched the moonlight from under his shelter, Ganymede on his head. He quickly turned his head when the person who was fixing him up entered the room. They laughed, plopping down next to him. And so, they watched the moon together.
Hana Song laughed as she once again won another round of a 1v1 between her and her S/O. The people in the chat were all rooting for Hana but they still cheered her S/O on. They were doing a charity livestream for the holidays, and Hana was glad her S/O joined in.
Orisa laughed as Efi hung up more ornaments on her horns. When she was finished, Efi went to get more dog food for the little puppy they had found. They were both happy. Happy to spend the holidays together.
Moira grinned as she watched her new experiment. However, she was caught off guard when her S/O entered her office in a big sweater. They had brought her some coffee and asked if they could stay for a bit. Moira laughed but nodded regardless. At least she could spend time with her S/O.
Symmetra sighed, looking at the clock. Most people were home with their families, so why was she alone in her office? A knock on her door interrupted her train of thoughts and she muttered a ‘yes?’. The door opened and revealed her assistant. They told her about how they were heading home and were wondering when Satya was going to leave. She shrugged and muttered a ‘now’. Her assistant changed their plans when they asked if Satya needed a lift home.
Zenyatta was watching the fireworks outside. He was wondering if he should leave – but Genji asked if he could come, too. Genji had been invited by his brother and while Zenyatta was happy for him, he wasn’t sure if he should come too. But Genji insisted. Ever since leaving the monastery, he had been travelling with Genji by his side. It wasn’t surprising when his student invited him along but still… He was about to leave when the door opened. Genji had already seen him and invited him into the house, where Hanzo and his significant other were still playing games.
Winston looked around. He never thought he’d leave the Watchpoint. Yet there he was, ready to leave. Lena and her girlfriends would usually come over for Christmas.
Not this time thought. This time, he’d finally see something else than the old buildings of Watchpoint Gibraltar. He’d see King’s Row. He’d see Tracer’s apartment and he’d see the Mondatta statue. Maybe it was good to leave once in a while.“
And so, a tired writer ended the Twelve Days of Overwatch, glad it was over but also happy she finished it. Now it was time to take a break. She figured she’d return in a year. But for now, watching Markiplier and Jacksepticeye would be the only thing she’d do for a while. Of course, she’d celebrate Christmas with her family and friends. But she’d take her mind off her blog for once. And that was all that mattered, for now.
With a sigh, she posted one last thing,
"Happy holidays and best wishes for the New Year. I’ll be back in 2018”
